Your available credit matters too, not just the card’s validity. If your card only has 4,000 MAD of headroom and the agency needs to block 10,000 MAD for the SUV you want, the booking simply won’t go through at the counter, no matter how confirmed your reservation looked online. The card itself matters more than the deposit amount
This is the part that actually derails bookings. Most agencies require a physical credit card, embossed, in the name of the main driver, Visa or Mastercard. Debit cards get refused constantly, and so do virtual cards issued by banking apps, even when they have plenty of funds available. If you’re traveling with only a debit card, say so when you book, because some agencies, us included, can work around it with extra documentation, but you need to ask before you land, not at the counter.
If a lower hold matters to you more than anything else, buying the full insurance excess waiver at the time of booking usually brings the deposit down significantly, since the agency’s exposure if something goes wrong is much smaller.
